| Dressed as a yogin, wearing a tiger skin, covered with ashes from the funeral pyre and enveloped by writhing serpents, Shiva is the embodiment of radical behavior. He is often surrounded by ghosts and goblins (bhutas and ganas) that follow him from the cremation ground, where, according to one story, he is cursed to wonder holding a skull as a begging bowl.
